Belo IV., from Arpád lineage (1026 – 1270), was crowned king already in an age of 8 years. However, before he has ruled from royal throne, he held the post of the Slavonic and Transylvanian lot duke. In 1235, after occupying the throne, the Mongols invaded the territory of Hungary and the royal troops in 1241 in a known battle at Slaná river suffered a defeat. Belo IV. was some time on the run when the Tatars turned back unexpectedly and owing to decease of their ruler they returned into the Mongolian empire. After departure of Mongols a difficult task has passed to king, namely to renew the country destroyed by war. The king built-up the stone knight´s castles, he supported the towns development, he renewed the old privileges and he awarded new privileges. During the further years the troops under the guidance of Belo IV king took part in several battles and the relation to the son of Štefan was tense which culminated by a war leading to a country division. In king´s declining years he endured even the death of beloved Son Belo which was Croatian and Slavonic duke.

The King Saint Stephen was born at the end of 10th century like the sun of grand prince Gejza, unifier of old Hungarians. The oldest man of lineage used to be becoming the heir to the power and therefore after the dad´s death Stephen had to defeat the first serious rival, its elder relative Koppány what he also did succeed in it. According to the preserved information the pope Silvester sent together with Caesar of the Holy Roman Empire, Oto III. the royal crown to Stephen and Stephen was crowned for the first Hungarian king at Christmas in the year 1000. Štefan spent many forces to teach the people to a settled life in the manner of the Christian Europe. Stephen founded schools, he issued a code of law, he prescribed as the official speech the Latin to the clerical and secular authorities. He used to establish the bishops, he ordered in order every ten municipalities have their church. However, more times he had to fight also against his enemies and the last years of his life were marked by disease and by unsuccessful attempt of conspirators for attempted murder. Because his son Imrich has died in a young age, he appointed Peter, son of his sister Gizela, as his successor. He has died in 1038 in Ostrihom (or in Székesfehérvári). He was sanctified by pop Gregor VII. in the year 1083 together with other persons which had contributed to Christianizing of Hungary.
